December 2007

“The Hardrock Haven Band of the Month is a band we firmly believe needs to be heard. Each month, one Hardrock Haven staff member has their opportunity to pick a band they feel is going to break soon; a band that is deserved of nationwide attention; and lastly, a band that just kicks ass.” … Derric Miller.

Teenage Casket Company, hailing from the U.K., is easily
one of the world's greatest unsigned bands today. The band outright flogs
you with Butch Walker-type catchy hooks.
Their
songs are punk-edged, pop-driven, and above all else, they are great musicians
and songwriters. Their energy is from the '80s -- when bands like Motley
Crue, Vain, Firehouse, and Ratt ruled the earth -- but they own a modern
sound. How they've released two smashing CDs (Dial
It Up! and Eat
Your Heart Out) and haven't been picked up by, oh, Atlantic Records
or Warner Brothers, just lets you know that "those in the know"
are clueless.
Teenage Casket Company is a touring machine in their homeland,
and the band has toured the East Coast in the U.S. (with their brethren
The Erotics) and hope to do a
more
expansive tour later this year. They are easily a favorite Hardrock Haven
band, with lead singer/guitarist Rob Wylde being coerced into interviewing
with us four times: Interview
One and Two, Interview
Three, Interview
Four.
Besides Wylde, they are gifted with Jamie Delerict, a snarly, old-school punk rock guitarist/singer/songwriter who truly is the dirt to Wylde's polish. Bassist/songwriter Rob Lane also brings that '80s vibe to his playing, and the final bullet in this gun is a machine known as Spike, a guy who could easily fit into a progressive juggernaut like Dream Theater with his unfair talents. When you put all of these ingredients together, you get a familiar sound, yet they sound like no one else.
Big things are going to happen for Teenage Casket Company; it's all just a matter of time. So if you haven't heard them yet, but are in love with Arena Rock with a punk edge, major attitude, snarky and humorous lyrics all coupled with brilliant pop rock sensibilities ... Teenage Casket Company is your band.
"Hardrock Haven has championed Teenage Casket Company from the beginning, so it's an honour to be their band of the month," said Wylde. "They truly know what good Rock n'roll is all about -- cheers guys!"
Congratulations to Teenage Casket Company for being the December 2007 Hardrock Haven Band of the Month!
