Ellie Timms
Staff Photo Journalist
Comments: In the late 70's Ellie got her feet wet taking pictures of friends
in local California bands. The gigs blossomed from there. Her photographic
skills were being noticed and she was being publishing in local newspapers
in the San Francisco Bay Area, Ellie began shooting some of music's biggest
names during the '80s. The list is a who's who of rock'n'roll: Black Sabbath.
Dio. Journey. Cheap Trick. Reo Speedwagon. .38 Special. Kansas. UFO. Ronnie
Montrose. Bryan Adams. Rick Springfield. Boston. Eddie Money. Def Leppard.
The '80s also brought the heyday of metal, the culprits of this seduction
were a then-little-known band from Seattle called Queensrÿche. When
she first heard their self-titled EP, Ellie was hooked, they are her favorite
band to this day.
For Ellie the late 90's and into the new millennium brought new outlet (
the world wide web) to display and promote her pictures this time internationally,
her images can be seen on various sites like michaelwilton.com, darkane.com,
sebastianbach.com to name few. She also expanded her portfolio by publishing
on billboard.com and in Metal Edge magazine, Guitar Player magazine and
in Hughes & Kettner's catalog, as well at NAMM 2007.
Having relocated to New Jersey in 2001, the move also added more stars to
her résumé of live shots: Sebastian Bach, Steve Vai, Billy
Sheehan, Dream Theater, Judas Priest, Doro, Les Claypool, Fuel, Trivium,
and, after years of dreaming, Queensrÿche. Ellie first photographed
them in 2003 and has been fortunate to photograph them many times since,
proving dreams do come true over and over again.
Ellie sums up her two passions very eloquently:
"Photography invokes so many different emotions, just like music. It's freezing a moment in time you can remember forever."
