Artist: Black Rose

CD Title: Explode

Label: Shark Records

Release Date: Out Now

Comments: Explode the latest CD release from Black Rose features combination of 80s metal flair, melodic and neoclassical solos and really reaches out for a melodic rock vibe. The band writes songs the surely tip there hat to their influences; Iron Maiden and Yngwie Malmsteen being the most notable.

Johan Spinord is not Bruce Dickinson but does and admirable job of carrying the CD from track to track. He has a pleasant voice that is intelligible and works well within the context of the songs presented on the CD. Ola Carisson plays tasteful guitar riffs and solos and even relinquishes his duties allowing special guest Thomas Berg to handle guitar duties on “Into The Night.” The band is rounded out by drummer Peter Haga, bassist Anders Haga and keyboardist Magnus Vesterlund.

The CD clocks in at 43 minutes and 56 minutes. The guys present their music honestly and make a fair attempt at reviving the genre of hard rock. More of this and less of the Jessica’s, Brittany’s and who ever else might come along would be a good thing.
