Hyped and promoted as metal, this leaves a lot for the listener
to ponder. It shouldn't, but in this case it simply must. The deep-seated
power of the atypical metal guitar rhythm seems to lose its overall
effect when accompanied by keyboard lead guitar replacements. The
bangs and growls lure you in, and just when you feel a good rocking
sensation beginning to form in your head, this crappy keyboard lead
pops in and just ruins the atmosphere.
The
synthesized improvisation shortly transforms into a blended mix
of lead guitars followed, more often then not, by a mediocre solo,
the damage is done! The rest of the song may be kick ass, but that
one bad apple spoils the bunch. Keyboards can be acclimated into
the composition of a metal song, but they simply don't seem to fit
here on any of the songs. Unfortunately this seems to be the norm
throughout most of the entire disc. There are great vocals, anthropocentric
lyrics, fairly decent leads, power driven bass, and thundering drums.
Somebody please throw the F@#ing keyboards out the damned window!
