From the moment I started listening to this disc I was awestruck.
I've never heard anyone sing so much like the late Freddy Mercury
in my life. The music is nothing like the Queen of old but if no
one told me, I'd swear on my soul that this was Freddy. He delved
into so many different sounds and styles; who knows? Well this isn't
Queen so now what do I do? I can tell you by track 5 as this vocalist
tries in vain to take it upstairs that my suspicions of Freddy not
being dead are put to rest in no uncertain terms.
The
music is full of life at times and quite odd at others. Track 6
sounds like something the Beatles might have done in their early
days while under the influence of a lot of potent ergot derivatives
although it's no "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds," by any
stretch of the imagination. Maybe these guys were shooting for comedy
here, at least I hope so. I know I giggled. The guitar work throughout
the disc is good but nothing really stood out to me. Maybe with
the right producer this could go somewhere in the marketability
sense, but not in it's present form in my opinion. Nonetheless,
it is quality music. I just can't see myself sitting down and listening
to it over and over again so I give it a 5. |
