No nonsense. No frills. Tishamingo is just four guys playing music
together that is near and dear to their hearts. Wear N' Tear
is drenched in southern blues based rock. The CD is chalked
full slide guitar, blues riffs and easy going music that tugs at
the soul of the listener. There
bio describes them as “blues-based rock ‘n’ roll
calls to mind a Southern flavor and boasts soulful singing, honest
lyrics, and two-guitar interplay reminiscent of the bands that have
inspired them,” and it is a definition that fits the bands
music well.
On
their sophomore release the group pours their energy into 12 tracks
of blues rock splendor. Hints of many great bands and songs eerily
ooze through the speakers as the band takes and molds these influences
into their own melting pot songs.
The
guitar playing is superb! The track “Magic” is a great
with its melodic sensibilities, vocal delivery and smooth guitar
solos. Jess Franklin and Cameron Williams provide further proof
that you don’t have to be a guitar shredder to be considered
a great guitar player. The guitarists deliver very nice phrasing
and lead guitar work throughout the CD.
The
vocals on the CD are palatable, smooth and quite enjoyable. The
overall atmosphere on the CD is reminiscent of great 70s blues rock
bands and proves that this style of music can be fresh and entertaining.
Musicians:
Steven Spivey (bass, backing vocals), Richard Proctor (drums, percussion),
Jess Franklin (guitar, vocals), Cameron Williams (guitar, vocals)
