This year marked the return to the main stage for three consecutive
OZZFESTS, Chicago's Mighty Disturbed. Now here is a band that simply
grows on you from the minute you listen to their music on CD. I
can't seem to put my finger on what it actually is that makes this
band kick ass, but they just do. I think other than OZZFEST appearances
I have seen them countless times over and every show sizzles. I
admire front man David Dramain for his ability to carry his weigh
on every song through their recent show at OZZFEST. Disturbed featured
old favorites such as "Voices," "Pray," "Liberate"
and "Stupify." Disturbed also featured newer works from
their critically acclaimed best effort to date Ten Thousand Fists
to which they rocked out with "Stricken," "Just Stop,"
, and their remake of Genesis' "Land Of Confusion," which
adds a nice fresh metal sound to that classic track overall.

Another
very quick set change over for the co-headliner at this year’s
OZZFEST with System Of a Down. Again, I wasn't really familiar with
all their tunes being performed other then "Aerials,"
"BYOB," "Question" and "Toxicity.”
The sound was great but their stage lighting is kind of strange,
going from super bright yellow gels to bright white lights, then
to almost darkness. Personally, I like to see what I am listening
to instead of closing my eyes and just listening. Nonetheless, System
still sounded fabulous.
We
all awaited OZZY to take the stage and finish off the evening with
yet another fearless performance, with material spanning four decades.

keep
in mind from all dates on this year’s run at OZZFEST, among
certain markets OZZY performed the main stage and in a handful he
did closing slots after System of a Down's set. Camden was certainly
one of his chosen few to do just that.
There
are numerous songs that always happen to be left out at any given
moment when OZZY does his usual solo works, yet he still manages
to mix up old classic Sabbath era days with timeless rock anthems.
There is never a dull moment during his set, as OZZY would run around
the stage and toss out endless buckets of water to cool off the
fans. I

can
still hear his famous liners with self-induced F-bombs to get all
the fans completely fired up. I have always been such a respected
follower of OZZY's music and when he tosses in Zakk's guitar solos
it just makes the show truly complete. This show, Zakk wailed with
the "Star Spangled Banner" on his guitar.
One
thing you can say about OZZY is he still kicks ass, even if he's
getting old. He still retains the youthful energetic sound after
all these years.
