Comments:
Metal vixens from Stockholm, Sweden, Nicki Wicked (d), Ida Evileye
(b), Klara Force (g) and Mia Coldheart (v)(g), attempt to stake their
claim in the male dominated metal world. With fiery licks (no pun
intended) and heavy handed riffs, Crucified Barbara tow a line which
has more in common with metal queen Lita Ford than Joan Jett's rock
guise.
Their
debut release on Liquor & Music, In Distortion We Trust,
puts the pedal to the metal as the band pushes the volume from 10
to 11 in mere seconds. Their appeal is generated by their angst which
is ripe for the listening on the 12 track CD. It doesn't hurt them
either that they have the look to go with their chops.
Mia
Coldheart voice leaves a bittersweet taste as she swoons from hard
and aggressive to clean, harmonious vocal deliveries. The guitars
provided by Klara Force and Mia Coldheart, snarl, scratch and claw
with blues oriented metal riffs and speedier jaunts that almost sound
Maiden-ish, demonstrating both women have virtuoso capabilities at
their finger tips. Check out the solos on "Rock 'n' Bachelor"
and "Losing The Game." Smokin'!
Lyrically,
the CD wanes into juvenile territory but the high energy and fun escapism
that exudes from In Distortion We Trust makes this a fun adventurous
listen. You can check out the visual representation of the band as
the enhanced CD contains three videos "Losing the Game,"
"Rock 'n' Roll" and "Play Me Hard (The Bachelor's Guitar)."
