Big Cock
Motherload Driver Wild Music

Comments: One of the great cosmic tragedies in this or any century is the
fact that Beavis and Butthead were never afforded the opportunity to listen
to a Big Cock song or watch a Big Cock video. If there was ever a match
made in Purgatory, itd be the introduction of Big Cocks music
to Beavis and Butthead. For instance, on their new CD Motherload,
youd hear Butthead saying, Uhh, he said balls. Cool, on
the track Breaking My Balls. Beavis would be screeching, MILF!
MILF! Yeeeeeeeeeeah! And of course, during Built for Speed,
Butthead could pontificate upon the meaning of the phrase, she wants
my pole position.
Big Cock, the hardest band in the land, has their third musical installment of schoolyard humor, classic rock vibes, spectacular vocals and all around phenomenal songwriting with the eruption of their new CD, Motherload.
Before you even hear note one, you will have to give pause by the artwork of the CD cover as the Kings of the Single Entendre grace your eyeballs with the vision of an oil derrick gushing and spewing oil into the air. Magical
Is this thing on? yells lead singer Robert Mason as the CD begins with the track Get a Load of Me. Yeah, he said load. Guitarist and main songwriter David Henzerling has the art of crafting simple, catchy, hooky tunes down to a science. Everything about the song and CD is raw, from the production values to the fact that they dont layer their music (meaning, the rhythm guitar drops out when Henzerling plays a lead or solo). The reason they record music in this realistic fashion is because they want to be able to recreate in a live setting every note you hear on CD. What a novel concept
Stamina is up next, an ode to not being a Viagra user. With the lyrics of, Wind me up, watch me go, all night long, Ive got stamina! youll get the point again and again, maybe all night long.
They launch into Bump and Grind with the massive chorus leading the charge, instead of a guitar lead or riff. Youll have to marvel at how they can continually come up with lyrics like, Im getting up, youre going down, without repeating themselves. Their energy level is frankly one of a kind; its almost like they are enjoying it.
Finally, you get a little different pacing on Road to Ruin. The other tracks barely allow you to breathe, with crunch after crunch of guitar and smashing rhythms, but Road to Ruin has richer melodies and less yelling from Mason. Hes allowed to flaunt his mid-range tone, which is basically pure sleaze and innuendo. Mason is easily one Rocks best vocalists.
As always, Big Cock slows it down once per album, with a beautifully anti-poignant ballad. This time, its on Dont Ask Me to be Faithful. For those not aware, Mason is also a gifted keyboardist, which he plays here. This track is just keyboards and Masons voice for the most part (bass and drums come in later), crooning sentiments like, The only thing I can do, is promise to you that I wont be true. Basically, its pregnant with The Cheating Mans one-liners, like, You know I hate to lie, I dont have a reason why, to hurt you deliberately, why cant you see the others, they dont mean a thing to me! It all builds to a confession of, You want a man Ill never be, but Ill be yours unfaithfully. Like they say the truth shall set you free!
If there is a best song, it might be their shout-out to the physically enchanting matriarchal individuals known as MILFs. The song, aptly dubbed M.I.L.F. is a bluesy, rocking riff-fest that will allow you to scream lines like, I wanna get in between those child-bearing hips! All joking aside, as far as anthems, it doesnt matter what the lyrics say. This track just pounds (in a non-sexual way), it grinds (ditto), and its a hit song, even if it isnt yet.
They end the CD with the first video from the new release, called Built for Speed. Its the heaviest song by far on the CD, with Henzerling doing more than playing accessible guitar passages; he takes more chances and tears into a couple speedy and adept solos.
Like their other releases, the songs are short and blunt (11 songs, 35 minutes), and they pull everything except their punches. The band might get undo flack for choosing the name Big Cock, but when it comes down to it, its the quality of the musicians and the songs that really matter. So what if Beavis and Butthead would be thrown into epileptic seizures upon hearing one song from Motherload; if there was one thing they knew more about besides consuming nachos and girls thingies, it was music that kicks ass.
